Nordica's featherweight for all types of terrain, for the 07/08 season, brings interesting characteristics. There are as many as 8 Hot Rod models on offer. The bottom of the offer is responsible for the introduction to the world of allmountin. With fairly restrained dimensions and measured mass, the lower models will satisfy less demanding skiers. Stronger models, with a Jet Fuel and Hellicat wing, will satisfy even the most demanding. The waist width of 90 mm and excellent driving characteristics will be enough for the statement "let's go one more round...". We were given a model from the middle of the range for testing. The vertical side wall and the considerable mass are responsible for the excellent holding of the curb on well-maintained tracks, where the tested Modified model , the largest available height of 178 cm, will show very high-quality and precise corner entries.

The Hot Rod does not impress with speed and explosive agility when driving on groomed trails, which is quite understandable, but gives a rarely seen feeling of stability and security. Fairly large mass, at least when taking into account the all-mountain class of skis, Hot Rod ranks alongside other manufacturers, who have recently placed high hopes in models that will compete equally with all-round models exclusively intended for the slopes with their weight and power, while at the same time with its elasticity and width, it can produce excellent results on terrains that have not necessarily seen trail machines.

The Hot Rod's power is best demonstrated when driving on plowed snow, where its stability shines in the full light, while at the same time the agility allows for changes of direction in very difficult conditions.

hot rodDriving in deep snow can be a bit tiring. Although the ski perfectly balances between a not too wide but still "thick" waist than the classic all-round models, Hot Rod knows how to sink sometimes without a real explanation. But we wouldn't take this characteristic too much for granted, knowing the versatility that this ski strives for.

Riding on hoops gives the ski the opportunity to show its stability and correctly positioned center of gravity in the best possible way. But a slightly larger mass will be responsible for the very likely inflammation of the muscles after such stunts. We are inclined to think that it is wisest to take this beauty for a walk on well-maintained trails, trails that are already gently sloping, and next to trails in skimmed but not too deep snow. At the same time, when you return to the track, you will still be able to skate on the ice, which will surely bring a smile to your face, if it wasn't already the case before.
