Mr. Manfrini is a very well knowned Italian artist who's work was commissioned and displayed at the Vatican. He also has to his credit some monumental sacred art works to his credit that are displayed in many churches of Italy and even in America. I suggest you google his name and read on his extraordinary journey. He was described as the "Sculptor of Popes. He became very close to Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI. This perticular icon is one of the art pieces commissioned by Pope Paul VI. This piece is one of a few that were made to be offered by his Holyness as gifts to high profile individuals.
