Obiectivul este conceput pentru senzor crop. Se poate folosi si pe FullFrame, dar va vigneta la unele focale wide.

Ideal pentru un obiectiv all around, micut si usor, cu o plaja focala depasind clasicele obiective de kit 18-55, mult mai luminos si mult mai sharp.

Stare perfecta optic, sticla curata.

- 16 elemente optice in 13 grupuri,
- elemente din sticla FLD (Sticla "F" Low Distorsion - reduce aberatiile cromatice si vignetarea pe colturi,
- Motor de focalizare HSM - Motor Hyper Sonic Sigma, echivalent al tehnologiei Canon USM si Nikon SWM. Este un motor cu ultrasunete de tip inel conceput pentru a oferi o focalizare rapida si silentioasa
Internal Focus - Niciun element nu iese in afara, elementul frontal nu se roteste. Avantajele fiind ca obiectivul nu isi schimba lungimea indiferente de focala sau focus, nu absoarbe praf si permite folosirea filtrelor,
- DC - conceput pentru crop,
- OS - stabilizare de imagine,
- Diafragma cu 7 lamele rotunjite.

"The 18-200mm OS is a typical upper-mid-range Sigma design, which means a solid-feeling lens with an attractive matte-black finish and smooth operation of controls. In common with other lenses it in its class, the mount is metal and the barrel is constructed from lightweight but good-quality plastics. Like other superzooms the Sigma features a 'double-trombone' design for extension of the front lens group on zooming, but unusually it also uses a similar mechanism for moving the rear group internally. The lens is very similar in size and weight to both the Canon and Nikon 18-200mm zooms and Tamron's 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 VC (although the latter of course extends longer, due to its greater telephoto range)."
