"A jeweller by trade but an artist at heart, Alexis Barthelay had an eye for gemstones and the wristwatch became his canvas. This was not about utility; this was about alchemy. Watches, in his hands, became wearable poetry and by the 1960s, the House of Barthelay had become a name whispered in the salons and soirées of Europe’s elite. It was during this time of reinvention that one of Barthelay’s most exquisite creations took form. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, the tank-style case featured unique “bec de canard” (duck beak) lugs that gave it a sophisticated silhouette.
